The Prevention, Retention, and Contingency Program, better known as PRC, was mandated in House Bill 408. It is designed to provide benefits and services to needy families to overcoming immediate barriers in achieving or maintaining self-sufficiency and personal responsibility, preventing unemployment and job loss. It is the goal of the PRC Program to provide a means for families to work toward long-term self-sufficiency; thereby, preventing the need for ongoing public assistance. Requested services must fit into one of three (3) categories in order to be considered for eligibility:
PRC is an assistance program that meets a specific need related to becoming or remaining self-sufficient such as shelter expense, help with utilities, work clothing, transportation expenses to and from work and job supportive services.
To be eligible for PRC benefits, there must be a child and/or a pregnant woman in the assistance group. Income eligibility is based on a percentage of the current Federal Poverty Level. Resources are considered in determining eligibility. Application must be made at the Warren County Job and Family Services.
